Fremont Jr. High School State Assessment Schedule 22-23
Arizona's Academic Standards Assessment (AASA)
Grades 3-8 Testing:
AASA is the statewide achievement test for Arizona students in Grades 3-8. All Arizona public school students in Grades 3 - 8 will take the grade level AASA assessments in English Language Arts and Mathematics.
Sleep and Nutrition during testing is especially important.
According to Brown Medical School and Bradley Hospital research, elementary and middle school students who don't get enough sleep at night don't perform as well in school. The study, funded by the National Institute of Nursing Research and the National Institute of Mental Health, also found that kids who don't get enough sleep have a harder time paying attention.
Teachers rated students who had gotten eight or fewer hours of sleep as having the most trouble recalling material, learning new lessons, and completing high-quality work. They reported more academic problems and attention problems when sleep was restricted to shorter times.
According to a University of Nottingham study, consumption of a cocoa drink rich in flavanols--a substance found in dark chocolate--gives the brain two to three hours of increased blood flow. Lead researcher Ian McDonald, professor of metabolic physiology, says the increased blood flow can enhance performance and improve general alertness. Flavanols are also found in green tea and blueberries.
The best snacks are those that combine two or three food groups. Here are some examples: celery filled with peanut butter and topped with raisins, low-fat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and cottage cheese and fruit.
